About this Project

In South Korea, great emphasis is placed on the education a student receives after school. Many students, with parents paying hundreds or even thousands of dollars a month, attend hagwons, specialized after school programs that function very much like another school. And almost all of these students attend a hagwon that specializes in English. 

We created Reliable Teacher to help English teachers, many of them Americans, learn more about the different schools as they contemplate going overseas to live and teach. The site features reviews from previous teachers and contains a database of over a thousand different hagwons ranging from mom and pop shops to mega-coporations. We've been able to collect hundreds of reviews that have served as valuable information for teachers looking for good work conditions and friendly management.
