Lumin, a clean and premium men’s DTC skincare company, uses their Free Trial skincare quiz collects key information about customers to recommend them the perfect starter kit to fall in love with the products.

The Quiz features three key steps to better understand their customers: Basics, Skincare Profile, and Current Products. Each quiz question includes a progress bar so the user is always clear on where they are in the quiz experience.

Lumin's free trial quiz landing page and Skincare Profile questions

Lumin starts the quiz by asking a range of questions about who the user is buying for, how much they are looking to spend, and their age and gender.

Lumin's 'The Basics' section of their free trial quiz

The next section of the quiz, Skincare Profile, asks about the user’s concerns and expectations including their existing skincare routine, skin type and sensitivity, concerns, and the expected time they expect to see results.

Quiz questions about the customer's skincare goals and concerns

If a user clicks on any answer that is less than a month for the time to see results, an educational note appears at the bottom of the quiz that says “Hint: For best results, you should give it 30 days to see how well it works for you, but many people start seeing results in as little as a week.”

Lumin's free trial quiz questions about the customer's current products

To understand what products the user currently uses, the final chapter of Lumin quiz asks about the user’s current skincare products and routine, if they have one. Lumin asks about other companies, product types, and if the user feels like their current routine is effective.

These data points inform a curated set of products picked for the customers based on their quiz answers. Upon completing the quiz, the results page announces if they are eligible for a free trial, summarizes their type and concern, and includes a personalized list of products.

Lumin’s results page also provides information about what the set will help with such as exfoliating dead skin, reducing the appearance of acne scaring, and uneven skin tone.

The page also highlights press, testimonials, and products within the set and the key ingredients and benefits of the ingredients. There are ‘Claim Your Offer’ calls to action throughout the page to encourage a customer to convert at any section.

How it works page for Lumin's free trial

When a user clicks on ‘Claim Your Offer’ a slide out appears to show the three steps of how their trial and subscription works. The subscription includes the full size version of the trial products.

The free trial requires the customer to pay for shipping, but the cost is only $6.95 for the full mini set.
