L’Oréal Paris is the number one total beauty brand in the world that combines the latest technology with the highest in quality for the ultimate in luxury beauty at mass. Its trusted offerings include hair color, cosmetics, hair care and skin care products. In an ongoing partnership, Barrel and the L’Oreal Paris USA team worked closely together to reimagine the brand's “Make the Switch” tool. The tool gathers information from users and recommends L’Oreal Paris hair products based on their hair type and desired look. The experience not only builds trust with consumers, but allows for increased engagement on the L'Oreal Paris USA website.
At the start of the project, the L'Oreal Paris USA team provided insight into the tool's target audience: loyalists, switchers, and competitive users. Using these three types of users as a guideline, we created a seamless desktop and mobile experience designed to meet the unique needs of the audience. We designed the results page to display both recommended products alongside each other in the viewport, with links to their respective product detail pages.
In order to further encourage browsing and enhance discoverability on the L'Oreal Paris USA site, we also redesigned the Tools & Consultations page to highlight the brand's dedication to cutting-edge tools and personalization.
