How User Testing Shaped Revision Skincare’s Digital Experience

Revision Skincare is a science-driven brand built on clinical rigor, long-term efficacy, and data-backed results. As the brand set out to modernize its digital presence, they partnered with Barrel to evolve the website into a more premium, education-led experience that could clearly communicate their scientific authority and differentiate in a crowded skincare market.

Before design began, we led a focused discovery phase that included stakeholder interviews, collaborative workshops, and deep brand immersion. This work helped align teams across marketing, ecommerce, and leadership around a shared digital vision, clarifying how Revision should show up online while preserving the credibility they’re known for.

Because Revision is inherently data-driven, assumptions weren’t enough. Validation was critical. To ground decisions in real behavior, we partnered with Helio to conduct user testing across early wireframes and design directions. Participants evaluated navigation, content hierarchy, and visual systems, helping us understand where education resonated, where clarity broke down, and how users interpreted scientific information at key decision points.

These insights directly informed layout, messaging, and design refinement. User testing helped confirm which creative direction best balanced clinical credibility with approachability, and ensured the final experience made complex product benefits easier to understand without oversimplifying the science.
