How We Evolved Wamsutta’s Digital Experience to Support Their Retail Launch
Wamsutta has been a trusted name in American homes since 1846, known for premium bedding and bath essentials and a legacy built through generations of quality craftsmanship. Once a Bed Bath & Beyond exclusive, Wamsutta first partnered with Barrel last year to launch their first ecommerce site. Following the explosive success of the initial site launch last summer, Barrel continued partnering with the Wamsutta team to support ongoing growth through landing pages, site enhancements, and CRO optimizations. As the brand expanded its presence and prepared for broader retail distribution, the digital experience became an important tool for introducing new customers to Wamsutta’s premium assortment and strengthening brand recognition across channels.
As the product line continued to expand across categories and fabrics, the ecommerce experience needed to evolve alongside the products. We refined Wamsutta's digital identity system through key pages of the site to better communicate the craftsmanship, materials, and premium quality behind each collection. Our work focused on creating a cohesive digital expression of Wamsutta’s updated positioning, translating the brand’s guidelines into an experience designed to support both direct-to-consumer growth and its expanding retail presence.
The redesigned homepage puts brand storytelling at the forefront, highlighting key collections, seasonal merchandising moments, and the craftsmanship behind each product line. The “Meet Our Fabrics” module helps shoppers understand the differences between Percale, Supreme, and Egyptian cotton earlier in their journey, while editorial storytelling, press recognition from outlets like Architectural Digest and Good Housekeeping, and Wamsutta’s history reinforce the brand’s premium positioning.
On product detail pages, we focused on streamlining the buying journey and helping shoppers confidently choose the right fabric, color, and collection. We redesigned the fabric and color selector, replacing a traditional swatch experience with a more intuitive way to explore Wamsutta’s extensive assortment. Expanded product details, feel descriptions, and care information provide customers with the education they need to make confident purchasing decisions, whether shopping online or discovering the brand in retail environments.
Through an ongoing partnership, Barrel continues to help Wamsutta evolve its digital presence, creating a flexible ecommerce foundation that supports the brand’s continued growth across channels.
