The new apparel collection is inspired by Arthur Ashe, who was a legendary American professional tennis player, a style icon, and an American hero. He was the first Black man to win the U.S. Open, Wimbledon, and other history-making titles, a civil rights activist, an advocate for youth access to sports, and founder of the Arthur Ashe Foundation for the Defeat of AIDS.
Barrel designed an online shopping experience that preserves Arthur Ashe’s legacy while introducing the brand to the world.
The Arthur Ashe collection is designed to evoke the aesthetic of the 60s and 70s. We created a clean design aesthetic to showcase the style of the clothing.
The legacy of Arthur Ashe lives on through the advocacy work in his name, which was important to highlight on the new website. Learn more about his flagship partners, the AA Legacy Fund at UCLA, and the Social Change Fund, here.
This is the first dedicated ecommerce website for the tennis and lifestyle brand, which was launched by Rowing Blazers Co-Founder Jack Carlson and Kith Alum Karl-Raphael Blanchard.
